What MajorClash stores about you, why, who else sees it, and how to have it deleted. No advertising, no tracking, no selling of data.

01Who we are
MajorClash (majorclash.tech) is a quiz game for people who study or work in IT, such as cybersecurity, computer science, software engineering and AI. It is run by an individual developer. Contact: [email protected].
02What we collect when you create an account
Your email address, a username and a display name. Your password is never stored: only a one way Argon2id hash of it, which cannot be turned back into the password. The date you agreed to this policy and the Terms of use.
03What you can add yourself
A birth year and a LinkedIn profile link, both optional, both on your Account page. Neither is shown to other players.
04What we record when you play
Your answers, scores, time taken, wins, XP and level, and which questions you have already seen so you are not given them again too soon. Your display name, robot and results are shown to the players you play against, and your display name, level, XP and wins appear on the public Scoreboard once you have earned XP.
05Playing without an account
A guest gets a random identifier in a cookie, so a match or practice session can continue after a reload. If you later create an account you can choose to move that history onto it.
06Security records
To keep accounts safe we record when you sign in, a one way hash of your IP address (not the address itself), your browser's name, and a record of security actions taken on your account. We count requests per address for a short time to slow down password guessing.
07Cookies
Only the ones the site needs to work: a sign in cookie, a guest cookie if you play without an account, and the Cloudflare security check on the sign up and password reset forms. No advertising or analytics cookies, so there is no cookie banner.
08Who else handles your data
Contabo hosts the server and the database, in France. Cloudflare sits in front of the site to protect it and runs the security check. Resend sends our emails (confirmation, password reset, and contact form messages to our inbox). Email to [email protected], and anything sent with the contact form, is forwarded by Cloudflare to a Google Gmail inbox we read. Each only handles what it needs to do that job.
09Emails we send
Only emails about your account and your matches: confirming your address, resetting a password, security notices, and challenge updates. No newsletters or marketing.
10How long we keep it
Your account data is kept while you have an account. Sign in sessions end after 30 days without use. Request counters are cleared within an hour. Backups are kept for 14 days and then overwritten.
11Your rights
You can see and change your details on your Account page. You can ask for a copy of your data or for your account to be deleted by writing to [email protected] from the address on the account. When an account is deleted we remove your email, username and name; match results stay, attached to no one, so other players' histories still add up. Deleted data leaves the backups within 14 days. If you are in the EU or UK you may also complain to your data protection authority.
12Age
MajorClash is not meant for children under 13. If you are under 16 in the EU, ask a parent or guardian before creating an account.
13Messages you send us
When you use the contact form we receive your name, email address, the topic and your message, and your username if you were signed in. They arrive as an email in our support inbox and are not stored in the game's database. We use them only to answer you, and delete the conversation when it is no longer needed.
14Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes, and for important changes we will tell you on the site or by email.
